- INHALATION: Inhalation of high concentrations of mist may
cause headache, nausea, and respiratory irritation. Inhalation of high concentrations may
have narcotic effects.
-
- EYE CONTACT: Contact with the eyes may cause irritation.
-
- SKIN CONTACT: Brief contact is not irritating. Prolonged or
repeated contact can cause dermatitis.
-
- INGESTION: Ingestion may cause gastrointestinal irritation,
nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. Aspiration may occur during swallowing or vomiting
resulting in lung damage.
-
- CHRONIC: Medical conditions aggravated by exposure, kidney
problems, skin disorders, and allergies.
- HMIS HAZARD CODE: HEALTH: 0 FLAMMABILITY: 1 REACTIVITY:
0
-
- SECTION 4 FIRST AID MEASURES
- INHALATION: Remove to fresh air. If breathing has
stopped, give artificial respiration. Call a physician if irritation persists.
- EYE CONTACT: Flush eyes with water for at least 15
minutes. Call a physician if irritation persists.
- SKIN CONTACT: Remove contaminated clothing and shoes.
Wash exposed areas with soap and water. Call a physician if irritation persists.
- INGESTION: Consult a physician. If victim is conscious,
give 2 glasses of water, but do not induce vomiting. If vomiting occurs, give fluids
again. Have medical personnel determine if evacuation of stomach or induction of vomiting
is necessary. Do not give anything by mouth to an unconscious person.
- NOTES TO PHYSICIAN: Aspiration of this product
during emesis may result in severe lung injury. If evacuation of stomach is necessary, use
method least likely to cause aspiration, such as gastric lavage after endotracheal
intubation. Contact a poison control center for additional treatment information.
- SECTION 5 FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES
- FLASHPOINT AND METHOD: 212F 100C CC
- FLAMMABLE LIMITS LFL: 2.6, UFL: 12.5
- GENERAL HAZARD: None
- FIRE FIGHTING
- INSTRUCTIONS: Use water spray, carbon dioxide, dry chemical,
or foam.
- FIRE FIGHTING
- EQUIPMENT: Use NIOSH approved self contained breathing
apparatus and complete protective clothing when fighting chemical fires. Cool fire
exposed containers with water spray. Water or foam may cause frothing.
- HAZARDOUS COMBUSTION
- PRODUCTS: Combustion generates toxic oxides of carbon and
irritating aldehydes and ketones.
-
- SECTION 6 ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES
- LAND SPILL: Small spills: contain spill and ventilate
area. Absorb on inert media and containerize for disposal.
- Large spills: contain spill and ventilate area. Permit only
trained personnel wearing full protective equipment to enter the spill area. Collect the
spill in a waste container or remove with a vacuum truck. Prevent spill from entering
natural watercourses. Wear complete protective clothing when cleaning up chemical spills.
Spills and releases may have to be reported to federal and/or local authorities. Use the
regulatory information section (section 15) regarding reporting requirements.

STORAGE PRESSURE:
GENERAL: Keep container closed when not in use. Exposure to
high temperatures should be minimized. Water contamination should be avoided. Avoid
contact with skin, eyes, and clothing. Avoid breathing product vapors and mists. Do not
take internally. Wash thoroughly after handling this material.
SECTION 8 EXPOSURE CONTROLS AND PERSONAL PROTECTION
ENGINEERING CONTROLS
VENTILATION: Special ventilation is not required under normal
use conditions. Use local exhaust ventilation where dust , mist, or spray may be
generated.
PERSONAL PROTECTION
RESPIRATOR: If engineering controls do not maintain airborne
concentrations below recommended limits, wear a NIOSH approved respirator for dusts and
mists. Emergency showers, eyewash stations, and fire blankets should be accessible. Wear
protective clothing.
PROTECTIVE CLOTHING: Wear protective gloves made of neoprene
or rubber. Wear chemical safety goggles.
